About
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canberra is Germany's principal diplomatic mission to Australia and also accredited to Nauru, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Located at 119 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla, ACT, the embassy maintains political, economic, cultural and consular relations on behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office. Its Economic and Trade section supports bilateral commercial affairs, follows Australian market and policy developments, and works alongside the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and Germany Trade & Invest. The embassy promotes cooperation in priority areas such as climate, energy, critical minerals, defence and research, and is currently led by Ambassador Beate Grzeski. Consular services from Canberra are limited to the ACT, while broader visa and consular work is handled by the Consulate General in Sydney. The embassy also coordinates German government engagement with Pacific Island states from its Canberra base. It is part of the worldwide German diplomatic network operated by the Auswärtiges Amt.
